| Government commits to Crossrail - in full | |
Philip Hammond has said that the government is committed to delivering Crossrail and that there are no plans to change the scope of the project - despite speculation that there would be cuts inthe route, the stations, or the length of platforms. The Transport Secretary is reported by Construction News to have said that funding from the Department for Transport was committed to the project, but under constant review. He said: “We will look for every opportunity to engineer out cost ... but we have no plans to reduce the scope of the project". He also said the route was not in question, including the "spurs" to Abbey Wood and Maidenhead, which some had suggested might be cut. |
