| Brits show leaves Earls Court | |
The Brits - one of Earls Court's signature events, is to move to the O2 Arena in Greenwich. The show organisers say the event will change, and that the move is part of a cost-cutting agenda, but there has been speculation that the move is linked to the likely closure and demolition of the Earls Court venue after it has hosted the 2012 Olympic Volleyballtournament. A number of major event organisers presently using the venue are investigating alternatives to Earls Court, most of which are outside West London, as the Capital & Counties plans to redevelopthe area progress. The Brits' move could be the first of many. The loss of the venue will be an economic blow to the area, although the redevelopment plans may well include a new International Conference Centre, which could replace the trade in the long term. |
