The first Place West London took place on October 13, 2009. It aimed to help West London shape its future, and ensure continued economic growth and prosperity.

It centred on the concept of ‘place’- a location which provides home, community, employment and all aspects of a satisfying and rewarding life. The physical environment matters a lot to a place, but it is not the only component – social and infrastructural aspects all add layers to places.

Successful places have successful economies, communities, and infrastructure. And that doesn’t happen by accident – it takes vision, planning, leadership and teamwork. West London is a success – but we need to keep it that way. Place West London is the conference and networking event that hosts, informs and provides learning, debate and networking.

Place West London had speakers from the worlds of politics, business and regeneration, with Deputy Mayor of London Richard Barnes, HSBC Chief Economist Dennis Turner and Chairman of Arora International Surinder Arora all among the speakers.

As well as a programme of plenaries and panel sessions focussed on issues of economy and regeneration, there was a programme designed for SMEs and delivered in partnership with the London Business Network and Business Link in London. These were practical workshops delivering insight into raising finance, networking, exploiting economic recovery and winning work on London 2012.

With support and involvement from the West London Partnership, and all six Local Authorities, as well as from the private sector and the Greater London Assembly, Place West London is West London’s Economic Development Summit.

Place West London brings together representatives from local, regional and central government with key stakeholders from locally based businesses (including the SME sector), the construction, property and investment sectors. They along with senior representatives from West London business communities chart a strategic course for development and regeneration in the west of London. A mix of key supporters, exhibitors and delegates discuss and agree strategic plans for the future development and growth of the region.  Place West London is the policy shaping event for the west of London.
